Important contacts of the SBETH administration with Dragasakis and Papadimitriou
Working meetings with members of the Government were held by the President of SETEV Achilleas Davelis and members of the administration of the Association of Thessalian Enterprises and Industries, on the sidelines of the Thessaly Development Conference.
Specifically, the representatives of the business world of Thessaly welcomed at the offices of SETEV last Tuesday, the Minister of State of Thessaly, Mr. Dimitris Papadimitriou, Minister of Economy and Development. "Business development and the economy is something that unites us," said the president of STHEB, and then raised with the minister issues such as the tax framework, liquidity and red loans, the delay in the evaluation of the investment law, the delay in the VAT refund, financial tools for business development, the acceleration of business licensing and industrial parks and issues related to the NSRF.
Papadimitriou said that he expects to hear from the meeting about the problems and difficulties faced by businesses and the proposals of the representatives of entrepreneurship, adding that "the country's development plan aims to restart the economy from the investment sector, entrepreneurship and extroversion". He then briefed the participants on issues within his competence, stressing the particular importance of the private sector and businesses in the development of our country and promised to hold an immediate meeting in Athens with the representatives of the SETEV to continue the dialogue of the government with stakeholders.
The next day, the president of the SETEV and representatives of the agro-food sector, aluminium and plastics industries met with the Vice President of the Government Ioannis Dragasakis to discuss and debate issues related to industry and its growth prospects in Thessaly.
Davelis said that there are a number of issues to which the business world is asking for immediate solutions, saying that "Greek manufacturing companies are facing very serious obstacles that are not usually encountered by our competitors in other countries and these must be addressed. The private sector is the only driver of growth and restart of the economy and a catalyst for the economy's impetus". Subsequently, the representatives of the business community of the SSEV analysed the current situation for each sector separately, highlighting both the problems and the prospects for growth.
Mr. Dragasakis described industry as a "driving force of productivity and innovation" and "a cornerstone for the economic prosperity of the whole of Europe" and added that now that the Greek economy is gradually recovering after almost a decade of recession or even stagnation, it is necessary to shift to a productive, innovative, sustainable and extroverted growth model.
The President of SETEV asked the Vice President of the Government to continue contacts with members of the Government and to cooperate directly with the relevant Ministries on issues related to business, in order to address solutions and problems of the business world of Thessaly. The meeting was attended by Ioannis Cantonias (COSMOS ALUMINIUM AE), Ioannis Tserepas (LARIPLAST SA), Nikolaos Bretas (BRETAS EPE) and the General Director of SΘEB Elena Kamateri.
