2nd National Environmental Management Debate of the Green Angels community with the support of the EEAE

The 2nd National Debate on Environmental Management, organized again this year by the model Greek community of Environmentally Responsible Businesses, GREEN ANGELS, with the collaboration of the Hellenic Institute of Products and Services of the Hellenic Society of Business Management (EEDE). The event focused on the interactions of Plastics, Marine Pollution and Food with the Environment and took place on October 23rd at 17:30 at the Conference Centre of the Hellenic Association of Environmental Management Companies.This year's event aimed to build a framework for information, reflection and dialogue between major companies from Greece and abroad from the Food, Plastics and Shipping sectors. 

The event was addressed by Mr. Kostas Triantafyllou, Assistant Executive Coordinator of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA) and Mrs. Rosie Haritopoulou, Director of Alternative Management of the Hellenic Recycling Organisation (EOAN), while more than 200 Senior Executives and representatives of the most important Environmental Management Bodies of our country participated.

The panel discussion on Environmental Challenges and Ways to Address them was attended by Mr. George Smroumboulis, Environmental/Energy Performance Engineer, PRIME MARINE, Mr. Panagiotis Mitrou, Technology & Innovation Manager, LLOYD'S REGISTER, Mr. Yannis Tserepas, President & CEO, LARIPLAST S.A, Ioannis Konstantinidis, Member of the Board of Directors, ANTIPOLLUTION, Alexia Mahaira, Communication & Sustainability Manager, AB VASILOPOULOS.

"Mr. Ioannis Tserepas, President & CEO of LARIPLAST S.A., member of the Hellenic Association of Plastics Industries, during his speech at the ENVIMAD 2018 event, analyzed the importance, usefulness and utility of plastic in our lives, citing its advantages and its "special" properties as a material. He stressed that the basic requirement, as for all waste, is the correct way of managing, disposing and recycling it. Finally, he pointed out the gaps that exist in European legislation regarding the elimination or not of certain plastic packaging in accordance with the recent European Directive, which he described as quite unclear."
